PM Tsipras: government mulling a 50-euro increase of the national pension from 2020

The government is considering a 50-euro increase of the national pension for all pensioners from next year, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras revealed during a televised interview with Star channel on Thursday.

He said this increase will be given to all pensioners, not just those receiving the minimum pension, and would be a significant income boost for those on the lowest pensions, since for someone getting 500 euros a month, it represented a 10 pct increase.
