SYRIZA leader in Brussels for PES preparatory meeting

Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras is in Brussels to participate in the Party of European Socialists (PES) preparatory meeting.

It is the first time that Tsipras will participate in a PES meeting as leader of the main opposition.

According to SYRIZA, Tsipras continues to build bridges with the other progressive European forces for a common front based on:

- a social Europe

- Sustainable growth

- Management of the refugee and migration crisis in accordance with international law and in the context of European solidarity

- Upgrading the EU's international role for peace and stability

On Thursday, Tsipras will meet with the president of the European parliament David Maria Sassoli and afterwards with the heads of the Europarliament groups of the Left, the Socialists, Greens and Democrats, while at 16:00 Tsipras will take part to the annual Forum State of Europe organised by the think tank "Friends of Europe".
