Combining technology and culture will mark the start of a revolution in the way that Greece manages its culture heritage, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Saturday, speaking at a two-day seminar on joining technology with culture at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, an initiative of he Archaeological Resources Fund with the support of the culture ministry.
The prime minister walked to the museum after completing his tour of the 84th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF2019), where he was received by Culture Minister Lina Mendoni.
After listening to a part of the discussion, Mitsotakis praised the initiative as "extremely interesting and innovative" as the worlds of culture and technology "would not necessarily overlap" in people's minds and the seminar would help bring the two worlds in contact.
"I have great expectations that this...will provide limitless opportunities to promote our cultural wealth in very many different ways and radically change the way that our visitors understand the significance of Greek culture on all levels," he added, noting that this could also help in the challenge of extending Greece's tourist season.
