New Archbishop of America Elpidophoros enthroned in New York

The enthronement of the new Archbishop of America Elpidophoros was held at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York on Saturday, with all due pomp and circumstance and crowds of people and officials attending.

The ceremony was officiated by the Metropolitan of Germany Augoustinos, representing the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

Representatives of many faiths and Orthodox churches attended, including the Churches of Greece and Cyprus, while the Greek government was represented by Foreign Minister George Katrougalos.

The heads of the diplomatic missions of Greece, Cyprus, Turkey in the United States and the United Nations were among those attending, while main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis was represented by his spouse, Mareva.
