Greece and Cyprus sign memorandum for collaboration in public administration reform

Greece and Cyprus on Friday signed a memorandum of cooperation on the promotion of the two countries' collaboration in the sector of public administration and measures for the modernisation and upgrading of public services and agencies.
The memorandum was signed by Administrative Reconstruction Minister Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou and the Ambassador of Cyprus to Greece Kyriakos Kenevezos.
In this context, the two ministries will collaborate on the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of the projects' implementation, on programmes and measures for the reorganisation of public services, the simplification of legislation and administrative procedures, the improvement of working methods and introduction of modern technologies, improvements in performance and effectiveness and an overall improvement of the image of Public Administration, as well as promoting greater use of information in the public sector.
"Public administration is at the heart of the effort to restore the productive and social restructuring of Greece and in Cyprus. We have now entered a new period with new prospects and public administration comes to serve the new promising period for both countries. The transfer of know-how in this crucial sector will benefit both sides and will significantly contribute to the modernisation of public administration for the benefit of the citizens, growth and the social state," noted Xenogiannakopoulou.
