SYRIZA expels former minister Kontonis

Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance announced late Thursday that it is expelling former minister Stavros Kontonis from its ranks, saying that he had forfeited the right to be a member of the party.
The announcement noted that, while Kontonis "stated that he remains a 'communist in the renewalist Left' and obviously nobody can take this right away from him," he has, however, "himself forfeited his right to be a member of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance when he decided to turn against his own party".
Concluding SYRIZA said that Kontonis, through his stance, chose to demean "a huge popular victory against the criminal action of the neonazis.".
